Where are the workshops located?
All workshops will be held at The Latin Ballroom in Parramatta (First Floor, 216 Church Street, Parramatta) (www.latinballroom.com.au)
HOWEVER both Saturday workshops will be held at The Concourse Theatre in Chatswood (409 Victoria Ave, Chatswood) (https://theconcourse.com.au/visit/how-to-get-here )
What should I wear to the workshops?
No coin hip belts please! Hip scarf or belt, dance clothes, or gym wear – teachers would like to be able to see your knees/legs during class in order to check technique. Dance shoes, slippers or foot socks are recommended but not compulsory.
When should I arrive at the workshop?
Arrive at least 15mins prior to the start of the workshop. Upon arrival you will need to check in with the workshop assistant at the door. Please be punctual so that workshops can begin on time.
What do I do if I’m running late for a workshop?
Please enter quickly and quietly, get your name marked off and join the back row. Lines will be rotated regularly.
Is filming and photography permitted in workshops?
Yes BUT only at the end of the workshops. No filming or photography during the duration of the class. Teachers may allow you to film them OR other students while dancing. Please respect the teachers wishes in regards to filming and sharing any videos.
All mobile phones must be switched off or on silent at the beginning of any class. If you need to take a call please be mindful of other participants and quickly and quietly go outside.
Will there be breaks during the workshops?
There will be very short water and snack breaks during the longer workshops. Make sure you bring refreshments with you – there may not be time for you to make purchases from the local shops during a break.
Can I still attend a workshop as an observer?
Yes, you can book into any workshop, observe and take notes, however the full workshop fee applies.
Where can I buy food?
There are a variety of supermarkets at the Westfield Shopping Centre (within walking distance of the workshop location) for those wishing to self cater or save some money. The workshop venue (The Latin Ballroom) is conveniently located within the entertainment quarter of Parramatta where there is a great variety of local cafes, restaurants and convenience stores for snacks, lunch and dinner.

Can I purchase workshop tickets at the door?
How do I catch taxis in Sydney?
You can catch a taxi from designated taxi ranks BUT you are also able to hail a passing taxi anywhere on the street. You can also book a taxi directly (Google Sydney taxi) or use the 13CABS app (https://www.13cabs.com.au/IphoneApp). Uber is also available in Sydney and is often cheaper than taking a taxi (www.uber.co.au)
Workshop bookings are non-refundable however are transferable to a dancer/s nominated by you.
Will private lessons be available with the BDE cast?
Yes, subject to availability and restricted only for dancers who are enrolled in at least two workshops. Contact Jrisi for availability.
Are there any performance opportunities?
Yes – dancers participating in Jillina’s “Day in the Life of BDE” workshop can perform Jillina’s choreography at the Red Carpet After Party. All other performance opportunities will be by invitation only.

Is there time to relax/sightsee between workshops and events?
Yes but please be aware of the starting times for all events. Depending on where you are staying, allow more than enough time to travel to the next event. Participants are not able to utilize the venues after the workshops have finished and will be required to leave promptly.
A suggestion for the break on Saturday from 3pm to 7pm is the Andrew “Boy” Charlton Pool in the Sydney Botanical Gardens. A wonderful place to chill out, swim, eat, drink and enjoy fantastic view of the city. There are full shower and change room facilities available.
Can I still participate in Khader Ahmad’s “Evolution of the Drum” workshop on Sunday March 10th if I don’t have a drum?
Yes you sure can! This workshop is suitable for both dancers and drummers. Dancers without drums can bring finger cymbals, tambourines or even clapping! If dancers have access to Riq, Daf and Tablas then please bring them. There will be a few drums/Riqs available to borrow.
